A native of Schenectady, NY, Jason Furlani has asserted himself as a ten-year veteran in the New York City film, television and theater world—both as actor and playwright.

Jason recently completed work on the upcoming feature film, Freedomland, directed by Joe Roth and produced by Scott Rudin, starring Samuel L. Jackson and Julianne Moore. He can also be seen from time to time on television’s As the World Turns in his recurring role

 

as “Gus”, the bartender at Yo’s. Jason has also guest-starred on many of the NY-based television shows including: The Sopranos, each of the  Law & Order franchise shows, and his daughter’s personal favorite‑the Nickelodeon Magazine 10th Anniversary Special with the cast of U-Pick Live.

As a playwright, Jason has had several successful productions of his work with various companies and on numerous stages in New York City, ranging from Off- to Off-Off-Broadway. Most recently, the Blue Collar Theater Co. presented Jason’s full-length comedy The Big Vig at the Bank Street Theatre for a month-long run. Prior to that, the BCTC also produced his full-length play, LEADED, at the West End Theatre, and Susan is a Pinhead (a 10-minute play that had its debut at the Blue Collar “Shorts” Festival.

Other companies that have produced Jason’s work are: Zena Group, Real to Reel Productions, The 42nd Street Workshop, and JAN Productions, who presented his one-act comedy Family Trees for a limited Off-Broadway run.

In addition, Jason has written the scripts for both of the Families of Freedom fundraising events (a 9/11 charity) hosted in successive order by Chevy Chase and Carol Kane.
